About our school

Lorain Preparatory High School is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in grades 9 through 12 in Lorain, Ohio. Principal Shatela Evans leads a school where traditional high school academics meet career-technical pathways, credit recovery options, and a staff recognized at the state level for excellence.
The academic program is standards-based and individualized. College Credit Plus (CCP) gives students the opportunity to earn college credits while still in high school, at no cost to the family. Credit recovery programming is available for students who need to make up coursework and stay on track toward graduation. The school offers CBI (Community-Based Instruction) career-technical education, connecting classroom learning to real-world job skills and work-based experiences.
Special education services are provided to students on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), through both pull-out and push-in support.
This marks the second consecutive year Lorain Prep has had Teacher of the Year finalists on staff, a mark of the caliber of educators in the building.
Robotics is part of the STEM curriculum. Counseling services are available on-site.
Students can also get involved in interest-based extracurricular activities, including Culture Club, Line Dancing, Hooks & Needles, and Open Gym & Weight Training.
The school partners with community organizations including El Centro, NAMI, Family Solutions, Lorain County Domestic Relations Court, and Ohio Guidestone.
Every enrolled student receives free breakfast and lunch.
